High School Camp Brochure Youth Camp Brochure ATHLETIC DIRECTOR PHILOSOPHY Legend Athletics strongly believes that life’s most important lessons and habits can be learned through sports participation. Each athlete is provided the opportunity to develop attributes such as work ethic, dependability, self motivation, and self-discipline. We believe in the relentless pursuit to challenge our athlete’s character, create life-lasting positive relationships, connect with our peers as great teammates and communicate the skills, work ethic, self motivations and discipline to be successful in all aspects of life.. Legend athletics believes the most successful student-athletes are ones that participate in as many sports as possible. By participating in many different sports, students become better athletes and reduce the risk for overuse injuries. Legend coaches work together to share athletes and create individualized plans with the student-athlete to be successful in all endeavors. Legend’s student athletes are expected to - Act like a champion. We promote that every successful team on and off their field of play must develop chemistry, culture and talent. Legend athletes must always represent themselves, their teammates, the school, and their family in a positive way at all times. If players, coaches, and administrators act like champions in everything they do then they will be successful. Legend Athletics believes that coaches are the leaders of their program but athletes drive the culture. The athletic director’s job is to serve the student athletes and coaches of the school. I want coaches to take initiative in their programs and I will be there to help guide them. My job is to ensure that student-athletes and coaches have everything they need to be part of a successful program. Successes will be measured by student-athletes acting like champions in everything they do . As the athletic director, I believe that successful teams have a strong culture, chemistry and talent. Our theme in athletics next year will be taking the next step. We are developing a comprehensive training program for all Legend athletes. My focus is on building and working as a team. This is the only way our athletic teams can be successful and the only way our Athletic Department can be successful. My passion for athletics and my tireless desire to help student-athletes become successful is what drives me to be an Athletic Director. Sports can teach young people things that they cannot learn anywhere else. In order to be successful everyone in the athletic team or department should be held to a high standard. I will ensure success in the Athletic department by hiring and developing like-minded coaches who will always do what is best for students and uphold the tradition of success of the school. Legend Boys Basketball PROGRAM PHILOSOPHY: The Legend Titan Boys Basketball program's ultimate goal is to provide every student athlete in our program with the opportunity to achieve academic and athletic success through a high quality basketball experience. Legend Boys’ Golf Philosophy: Golf is a life-long sport, and Legend golfers are participating in a sport they can play and enjoy for the rest of their lives. The coaches at Legend always keep this in mind as we strive for excellence on and off the course. Golf is an avenue for young student-athletes to experience personal successes and challenges while maintaining healthy physical, emotional, and psychological growth. Student-athletes will excel in the classroom as well as on the course. Course time is dependent on a number of contributing factors (teamwork, decisions, grades, practice performance, skill, respect, & ATTITUDE). Attitude Matters! Our goal is to train athletes to be better competitors on the course and more mature, confident individuals throughout life. Teammates will respect each other while competing with and for each other, making one another better in the process. They will demand excellence from each other every moment on the course and will encourage each other to push past perceived obstacles. Legend golf is a competitive, not recreational, program. Legend strives to compete at a high level in both league and state competition every year. LHS Golf does hold tryouts and does make cuts. We desire to have fun while training to be better student-athletes—both on and off the course. Staff: Head Coach - Jay N Nelson
JV Coach - Tim Coit

LEGEND BOYS SOCCER PROGRAM PHILOSOPHY We aim to create an environment where we can be both successful and help all players to develop as people both on and off the field. We want all players to leave our program proud of what they have achieved and having learned something whether this be a skill or a trait. As long as players show willingness to work hard and learn, we as coaches will give our all to help you become better. There will be an expectation of everyone to work hard, come to games and practice with a positive attitude and to be a part of improving the program as a whole, from Freshman level to varsity level. As long as this happens the environment will be fun and one you look forward to being a part of. We are one program, note 3 separate teams. You should enjoy playing soccer and this should be some of the best years of your life. High School soccer can be an amazing experience and we have high level goals as a program to build on our success of last year, but it is important we get the commitment, attitude and willingness of all players to work hard in order to do this. Hopefully this will help create long term success for the team and make sure everyone is proud to wear the Legend High Schools Soccer Jersey. LEGEND BOYS SOCCER COACHING STAFF: Head Coach - Danny Pennington - Assistant Varsity Coach - Paul Edmondson Assistant Coach - Rusty Griffin Assistant Coach - Thomas Gryzbowski Assistant Coach - JJ Bergstrom LEGEND BOYS SOCCER- SUMMER PROGRAM OVERVIEW: For Legend Boys Soccer summer is a key part of our program. With soccer being a first season sport, time is limited once school starts. It is important we use summer to get ahead and start building our relationships and setting our expectations for the upcoming season. A successful summer can be the difference maker in how far we go as a program this year. Outside of general soccer skill and tactical development the main goals of our summer programming are; to build good habits prior to the season starting; to maintain and increase fitness levels; to start working on and building both on and off field relationships; to start forming a play style for the upcoming year; to set expectations of the program for the upcoming year. We will run various camps throughout the summer all aimed at improving various aspects of a students game that will ultimately help them when the season starts in August. These camps are for all high school ages and skill levels. We will look to split into age/ ability ranges where possible to ensure everyone gets the opportunity to get as much as possible out of each camp and show us their ability in order to help us make decisions when it comes to forming teams for the upcoming season. We will start with a one week camp for incoming Freshman and Sophmores in June to help integrate them and introduce them to the program. Following this we will have the main June camp which will be based around soccer specific strength and conditioning training with time in the weight room and on the field. July will have a more soccer focus building toward team specific drills and small sided games in preparation for tryouts and our season starting in August. We will also hold some open field and pick up sessions throughout the summer where possible. Please contact Coach Pennington dpennington@dcsdk12.org to be added to the distribution list for these updates and other program updates throughout the summer. The camp will be suited to all levels. Groups will be divided based on age and experience to give all players the chance to develop at their own level and ensure each player gets something out of the camp. Each day will have a different skill focus and will include a combination of technical skill development drills, live game related drills, fun competitive drills (while still working on the focused skill) and small sided scrimmages. Legend Girls and Boys Soccer's coaching staff will lead the camp and some sessions will be coached by current players from each program. This gives youth players an insight into the program, and gives them the opportunity to meet the current Legend athletes involved in the program, and inspire them to come and support us and cheer on their coaches when the season starts! LEGEND GIRLS SOCCER PROGRAM PHILOSOPHY We believe that soccer is a team sport and the greatest successes are achieved by working together. Every member of the team plays an important role, and we encourage our players to support and trust each other on and off the field. Every player has the potential to improve their skills, our coaching staff works with each player to help them reach their full potential. Success is earned through hard work and dedication. Legendary soccer players are expected to give their best effort every day to achieve their goals, and are encouraged to persevere through difficult times, learn from mistakes, and NEVER give up. We believe in treating our opponents, officials, and teammates with respect. Our coaches, players, and families are expected to conduct themselves with sportsmanship and uphold the values of fair play. Our goal is to help our girls become kind humans as well as amazing soccer players. This is done while having fun and expressing themselves on the field. We want the girls to be proud to be a part of our program and inspire others to join.
